本周 NPR – Three Books 节目播送的是哥伦比亚大学大名鼎鼎的历史学教授 Eric Foner 的文章“Three Books Explore Lincoln’s Complex Genius”。他说，尽管林肯的传记已有很多，但迄今为止最好的仍然是 David Herbert Donald 教授出版于1995年的 Lincoln。他推荐的另外两本书是 Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power, by Richard Carwardine，和 The Radical and the Republican: Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and the Triumph of Antislavery Politics, by James Oakes。另外，Foner 教授自己也写了一本关于林肯的书：Our Lincoln: New Perspectives on Lincoln and His World。
